Entries include those Killed in Action, Missing in Action, Died of Wounds, Died of Injuries, and Died as POWs. Information was obtained from records of the War Department, Adjutant General's Office, Administrative Services Division, and from the Department of the Navy, Bureau of Naval Personnel. Every effort has been made to ensure correct spelling and branch of service association. Names are listed alphabetically, and include the following branch of service designators: USA- U.S. Army; USAAC - U.S. Army Air Corps; USAAF- U.S. Army Air Forces; USCG- U.S. Coast Guard; USMC - U.S. Marine Corps; USMCR - U.S. Marine Corps Reserve; USN - U.S. Navy; USNR - U.S. Naval Reserve; MM - U.S. Merchant Marine.
