Lee E. Lawler was captured by Imperial Japan while serving in the Philippine Islands, and was sent to an unstated camp where 9,012 other American POWs were held. Lee's capture was first reported to the International Committee of the Red Cross on May 7, 1942, and the last report was made on November 25, 1942. Based on these two reports, Lee was imprisoned for at least 202 days (~7 months), and he died while in Prisoner of War status.
